How state government works
Each of Nigeria's 36 states has an elected governor and a State House of Assembly. States run things like state roads, many schools and hospitals, and local government councils, using federal allocations (FAAC) and money they raise themselves. The FCT is run by a minister appointed by the President.
Pidgin: Every state get governor wey people vote and House of Assembly. Dem dey handle state road, school, hospital and local government. Na minister wey President choose dey run FCT.
How this affects you: Your state government decides many of the services you use every day.
